Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using AltCheck (“Service,” “we,” “us”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users, including advisers, firms, and their authorized personnel.

2. Not Legal Advice

AltCheck is a compliance technology tool, not a law firm. Nothing the Service produces constitutes legal advice, a legal opinion, or a guarantee of regulatory compliance. All AI-generated analysis is informational only. You should always consult qualified legal counsel before making compliance decisions or submitting regulatory filings. AltCheck expressly disclaims any attorney-client relationship with users.

3. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to act on behalf of your firm to use the Service. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Notifying us immediately at info@altcheckcompliance.com of any unauthorized access
  • Ensuring that all users at your firm who access the Service agree to these Terms

4. Permitted Use

You may use AltCheck solely for legitimate internal compliance review purposes. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulation
  • Upload documents you are not authorized to share
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the Service's AI models or proprietary logic
  • Resell or sublicense access to the Service without written permission
  • Use the Service to generate compliance certifications or opinions for third parties

5. Subscriptions and Billing

The Service is offered on a free tier and paid subscription plans. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will not receive a prorated refund for unused time. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days’ notice.

If payment fails, your account will be downgraded to the free tier after a brief grace period.

6. Your Data and Documents

You retain all rights to the documents and data you upload to the Service. By uploading, you grant AltCheck a limited license to process that content solely to provide the Service to you. We do not use your documents to train AI models or share them with third parties except as necessary to operate the Service (e.g., Anthropic's API processes document text to generate analysis).

You represent that you have the right to upload all content you submit, and that doing so does not violate any confidentiality obligation, attorney-client privilege, or applicable law.

7. Intellectual Property

AltCheck and its licensors own all rights to the Service, including its software, AI models, compliance logic, user interface, and branding. These Terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights to you. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without written permission.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE IS ERROR-FREE, THAT AI-GENERATED ANALYSIS IS ACCURATE OR COMPLETE, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL IDENTIFY ALL REGULATORY VIOLATIONS IN YOUR DOCUMENTS.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALTCHECK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, REGULATORY FINES, OR ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR RELIANCE ON THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate these Terms at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms, fail to pay amounts due, or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice in the Service. Continued use after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
